In the coming years, Bharat’s Atmanirbharta greatly relies on how India’s industry performs. The agrochemical industry has immense potential to greatly contribute to this vision. Therefore, to deep dive into the ground realities of the agrochemical industry’s trade and commerce, consultations with industry, academia, area specialists and think tanks on Indian Agrochemical industry’s relevance in pursuit of a $5 trillion economy took place at The Claridges, New Delhi on 10th May 2022. The Chief guest for this roundtable was the Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Sh. Som Parkash. The issues highlighted during these deliberations were related to strengthening the overall ecosystem to make India a global leader, especially in the generic market. Other issues like Expport Import Policy of SAgrochemicals, Research in delivery systems, HSN Code, maximum residue limits, reciprocal trade practices, false advocacy etc. were all discussed at length. Sh. Som Parkash Ji assured that the government stands abreast with the agrochemical industry, to secure the best of its potential, towards attaining India’s vision of a $5 trillion economy.
